Newton Fractal

Newton's method applied to f(z) = cos(z) - z, whose real root is the Dottie number. Every root is simple, so convergence stays quadratic, and the structure comes from the double poles of the Newton map where sin z = -1. The frame sits on Re z = pi / 2, halfway between two consecutive poles, with the whirlpools in the lower third. Colour follows the smoothed step count up a copper ramp that stops at honey, and the pole preimages are painted as near-black smoke.
