Newton's method applied to f(z) = sin z - z. The root at the origin is triple, so the error drains at 2/3 per step and |f| falls by 8/27, which makes the integer level sets near-circles whose radii step by 3/2 and gives the ringed eye. The lace sits at the double poles of the Newton map at z = 2 k pi, where f' = -2 sin(z/2)^2 vanishes. Three ramps share the same dark low stops, rose for the triple-root basin, brass for the simple roots above the real axis and orchid for those below.
