The Strait

The Burning Ship map z -> (|Re z| + i|Im z|)^2 + c iterated over the parameter plane, framed on the channel west of the main hull's prow. A measured survey of the western channel found no pair of tall coastlines flanking the real axis, so the strait here is the hull wall to the east against the armada's receding shoreline to the west. Hue is the smooth escape count pulled down its ramp by the distance estimate, which keeps the open water cold and lets only the coastlines burn.
